Boon Siew Honda inked an agreement with Honda Motor Co. Ltd to export RS150R model

An agreement between BSH and HM was made during the Official Agreement Signing Ceremony

CYBERJAYA, 20 April 2017 – Today marked a historical milestone for Malaysia’s leading bike manufacturer, Boon Siew Honda (BSH) as BSH has inked an agreement with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (HM) during the Official Agreement Signing Ceremony to export their local assembled bike, RS150R to follow government policy and to encourage positive impact on Malaysia.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) was present during the Official Agreement Signing Ceremony to witness this inaugural event at Malaysian Automotive Institute Office (MAIO).

With over 60 years of market presence here in Malaysia, BSH is eyeing for a bigger slice of market share by exporting the first batch of 60 defined RS150R model to Honda Motor Japan. The highly anticipated RS150R was launched in June 2016 and officially made available for Malaysians in August 2016.

“This is great opportunity for BSH as we have been studying on export business for years and now we are finally ready to go. We are confident with our Honda RS150R as it is one of the top selling models in BSH. We managed to achieve 17,000 production units in just eight months since the first released in August 2016” said Managing Director and Chief Executive Office, Mr Nobuhide Nagata.

“Apart from that, BSH is taking firm steps to support government policy. We aim to localize the engine assembling by Honda which eventually creates more opportunities in terms of employment, technology transfer and partnership business in Malaysia. We are also moving forward Euro3 compliance productions according to Motorcycles Exhaust Emission and Noise Mission Type Approval regulation from Department of Environment (DOE)” added Mr Nagata.

With the strong partnership between Honda Motor and BSH, both parties have unified their vision to offer innovative and reliable motorcycles to the public through their latest agreement.

Honda market currently holds 26% of total market share in Malaysia as per March 2017 and aiming to achieve another 5% increase in end of 2017/2018 fiscal year. BSH recently celebrated our sales achievement at 132% in its last fiscal year.
